Joe Cole and Michael Ballack will leave English Premier League champions Chelsea when their contracts expire with the football club at the end of the month.

Cole, who's with England at the World Cup, has been at the London club since 2003 but Chelsea's apparently rejected his wage demand of more than $200,000 a week.

Ballack, the German captain, ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle injury has been at Stamford Bridge for the past four years, earning $275,000 a week.

Cole has already been linked to Manchester United, big-spending Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

A return to the Bundesliga is an option for Ballack, possibly with Schalke 04 who have qualified for the Champions League and have expressed an interest, providing he accepts a pay cut.
