The All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen says the World Cup result against Slovakia has given his side an extra lift for the tournament.
Nelsen hopes their 1-all draw against the 34th ranked team will kill off the talk that New Zealand is only there to make up the numbers.
New Zealand play Italy in their next match on Monday morning and Nelsen says they'll be up for it.
He says they just need a win against Italy or Paraguay and they could get into the next round.
Nelsen says they have the belief to do more at this tournament.
