Newly-crowned U.S. Open golf champion Graeme McDowell has withdrawn from next week's French Open.
Speaking at a tumultuous reception for him at Rathmore in his home of Northern Ireland, McDowell cited "exhaustion" for skipping the event at the National course in Versailles.
His next European Tour event will be the Scottish Open the following week at Loch Lomond.
