Ballesteros won't be going to Open Championship

The Spanish golf legend Seve Ballesteros has been forced to call off his appearance at the 150th anniversary of the British Open after doctors advised him against making the trip.

The Spanish five-times major winner was one of 32 former champions invited to play four holes at St Andrews on July 14th, the day before the British Open.

53-year-old Ballesteros was diagnosed with a brain tumour after collapsing in Madrid in late 2008 and needed four operations before beginning a course of chemotherapy.

Ballesteros is resting and continuing his recovery at his home in Pedrena, northern Spain.
