Some painful heroics from the New Zealand Warriors winger Kevin Locke have sealed a dramatic late 20-18 win for the Auckland National Rugby League side over the Sydney Roosters in very wet conditions in Christchurch.
Locke slid in to score the winning try with time nearly up - but collided with the posts.
As the conversion was made, the young Kiwis international wasn't able to celebrate his hat-trick but waved to fans as he was stretchered off the field and taken to hospital.
Ball security and handling were paramount in the rain at AMI Stadium, where a big crowd of 20,500 watched the thrilling finale to the NRL clash.
Both sides scored two first-half tries, the Roosters leading 12-8 at the break.
It was 18-8 soon after before the Warriors launched a comeback with the other winger Manu Vatuvei just touching down inside the left corner.
A crucial conversion meant another six-pointer would seal it but it didn't look like coming until Locke launched his last-gasp raid.
In the other Sunday game, the Newcastle Knights upset the form book by beating the high-flying Titans 24-16 on the Gold Coast.
The Warriors are now level with four other NRL sides on 18 points but goal difference means they're the worst of those five in ninth place, just below the Roosters - but only one win away from the third-placed Wests Tigers. Parramatta are up next on Sunday at Mt Smart.
Newcastle climb to 11th, Gold Coast remain in fourth.
