The Black Caps batsman is one of 13 New Zealanders on the final 346 player list for the lucrative Twenty20 cricket league.

Despite being the leading run-scorer in T20 internationals, Guptill has often been overlooked by IPL franchises and has previously gone unsold in the auction.

The 32-year-old has set his base price at 100 lakh rupees, which is around 200 thousand New Zealand dollars.

Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum and all-rounder Corey Anderson have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket of 200 lakh rupees (NZ$401,900).

Black Caps bowlers Matt Henry and Neil Wagner can be forgiven for their minds drifting elsewhere during the first test against Sir Lanka, starting at the Basin Reserve on Saturday.

Henry and Wagner are amongst the other New Zealanders who will be up for grabs at the auction on Tuesday evening, after the fourth day's play.

Test team-mates Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Colin de Grandhomme and Trent Boult have already been retained by their IPL teams for next year's competition.
