The Reds, beaten finalists last season, have edged Napoli 1-0 at Anfield to progress as group C runners-up at the Italian club's expense, despite finishing tied on points and goal difference.

Striker Mohamed Salah netted the winner for Liverpool in the 34th minute, but needed goalkeeper Alisson to produce a reflex save in stoppage time to keep the Merseysiders in the competition.

Spurs have also advanced to the knockout rounds by the slimmest of margins.

Tottenham's scored a late goal at Barcelona to draw 1-1 with the runaway group B winners and clinch a spot in the last 16 draw ahead of Inter Milan on head-to-head away goals.

Lucas Moura scored the all-important equaliser for Spurs, who were aided by Inter's surprise 1-1 draw at home with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.

Paris Saint-Germain has topped group C after romping to a 4-1 win at Red Star Belgrade, while Borussia Dortmund has won group A courtesy of a 2-0 win at Monaco.

A 0-0 draw at Club Brugge has cost Atletico Madrid top spot in Dortmund's group, but the Spaniards have still progressed as group A runners-up.

FC Porto and Schalke earlier capped their progression from group D by beating Galatasaray 3-2 and Lokomotiv Moscow 1-0 respectively.
