2:04 pm on 15 July 2010

The former Silver Ferns Daneka Wipiiti, Leanna de Bruin and Anna Scarlett have been named in a 17-strong New Zealand squad to prepare for the side's upcoming international netball season.

Wipiiti and de Bruin return after missing last year's international programme through pregnancy while Scarlett left the game three years ago to play beach volleyball, after missing out on the Silver Ferns 2007 world championship side.

Missing from last year's squad is 20-year-old Pulse shooter Paula Griffin, who's taking a year off.

The Mystics shooter Catherine Latu has also been named in the squad despite not being eligible for the Commonwealth Games.

She can however play in the upcoming Tests against Samoa, Jamaica and Australia having come to the end of a stand down period for having previously represented Samoa.

The squad will be cut to 12 at the end of the month for the test matches and the Delhi Commonwealth Games.

The full squad is:

Liana Barrett-Chase, Leana de Bruin, Temepara George, Katrina Grant, Joline Henry, Charlotte Kight, Laura Langman, Cathrine Latu, Grace Rasmussen, Anna Scarlett, Anna Thompson, Maria Tutaia, Irene van Dyk, Casey Williams, Daneka Wipiiti, Camilla Lees, Wendy Frew.
