Tenth stage to revive memories for Lance Armstrong

5:13 pm on 14 July 2010

The 179-kilometre 10th stage of the Tour de France will bring back plenty of memories for the seven-time winner Lance Armstrong.

Seven years ago, on the way to his fifth Tour win, the American was forced to cut through a field to avoid a crash on the descent of the La Rochette climb.

The peloton will again ride through La Rochette and take a long descent to the finish line in Gap.

Armstrong's hopes of an eighth Tour win have already evaporated after a crash earlier this week.

Luxembourg's Andy Schleck holds the tour leader's yellow jersey, 41 seconds ahead of defending champion Alberto Contador.
