The Wellington golfer Mark Brown has achieved easily his best result of the year, tieing for fourth at the Scandinavian Masters in Sweden.

After a 4-hour rain delay on the final day, Brown was involved in the title race throughout the day, and a one-under par 71 gave him an an 8-under par total, three strokes behind the winner in a share of fourth place with the Australian Brett Rumford and the British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen.

Brown's share of the purse was 120-thousand dollars, but he says he was disappointed with his final day's play.

The US-based Swede Richard Johnson holed a long birdie putt on the last to win by one stroke from Argentina's Rafa Echenique.
