Evergreen sprinter still competing at 50

The Jamaican-born sprinter Merlene Ottey is attracting as much attention as any athlete at the European athletics championship, which have just started in Barcelona.

The remarkably youthful-looking Ottey has won nine Olympic medals, but no golds, in her three decades at the top level, starting in Moscow in 1980.

Ottey has been competing for her adopted country Slovenia since 2002, and at 50 years of age she'll become the oldest athlete to compete at a European championship if she's selected for the 4X100 metres relay at the end of this week.
