Most of Silver Ferns squad to get a run against Samoa

The Silver Ferns plan to give most if not all of their 12-strong squad a run in the in their first Test of the year against Samoa in Porirua on Saturday night.

The two sides have played just three Tests against each other, the last seven years ago when the Silver Ferns won by over 50 points.

Assistant coach Wai Taumanu says with the likes of Leanna du Bruin, Anna Scarlett and Daneka Wiip'iti returning to the side alongside the newcomer Grace Rasmussen, they need to develop combinations ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

And Taumanu says they still haven't settled on what's their strongest starting line-up with only the attacking circle confirmed in the selectors' minds.

Taumanu thinks the defensive end is definitely unsure while the midcourt's still sorting itself out.

But even the obvious assumption about Irene van Dyk and Maria Tutaia starting on attack's not necessarily finalised as Wiip'iti and Rasmussen are pushing hard.

The Silver Ferns play Samoa before two Tests against Jamaica and then three against Australia before heading to the Commonwealath Games in India.
