Reid joins West Ham

The All Whites defender Winston Reid has completed his deal to join English Premier League football club West Ham United.

22-year-old Reid, who scored a memorable last-minute equaliser for New Zealand at the World Cup against Slovakia, has signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

He has been playing in Denmark.

West Ham open the new Premier League season in a week against Aston Villa.

Reid says it's been a mad couple of weeks and the last couple of days have been pretty hectic, so he's just happy to be there now.

He says he's in pretty decent fitness and hopes to be available for selection for their first match.

Reid has been a regular in the Danish First Division for the last two years, being linked with a move to Italy's Serie A and playing in both legs of Midtjylland's UEFA Cup penalty shoot-out loss to Manchester City in August 2008.
