Brown way off pace in Akron

The New Zealand golfer Mark Brown is last after the opening round of the latest World Golf Championship event in Akron, Ohio.

Brown fired a 10 over par 80 in the select field of 80, his round included eight bogeys and two double bogeys.

Two-time former US Open champion Retief Goosen of South Africa has a one-stroke lead after an opening round of 66.

He is one ahead of compatriot Tim Clark, Fiji's Vijay Singh, American Zach Johnson and Swede Daniel Chopra.
