Carney set for Super League after Raiders rip up contract

UK Super League clubs are set to queue up for Todd Carney's signature after the troubled halfback was sacked by Canberra and de-registered by the National Rugby League.

The Raiders have finally had enough of his off-field misdemeanours and tore up the 22-year-old's four-year contract.

Then the NRL confirmed Carney would be de-registered until at least 2010, meaning no club can sign him for the 2009 NRL season.

Carney's final miscalculation came last Saturday night when he was part of a group ejected from a nightclub. Carney had already been suspended indefinitely by the club after a complaint that he urinated on a person while out drinking.

In 2007 he was involved in a police chase and received 200 hours of community service.

He had already had his licence suspended because of drink driving prior to the car chase.
