Club owner meets with Phoenix players over winless run

6:18 am on 25 September 2008

The Wellington Phoenix players have met with club owner Terry Serepisos today to try and iron problems with the beleagued football side, which is yet to register a win from their five games in the A league this season.

The meeting, on the back of a one nil loss to bottom of the table Perth Glory, didn't involve coach Ricky Herbert but captain Andrew Durante says the players fully support Herbert saying the coach has been unfairly criticised for the teams poor performance.

Durante says its the players who deserve the criticism, as they're the ones who've turned in the lacklustre performances.

He says there have been too many games where only two or three players have played to their potential.

The task of turning things around though looks difficult for the Phoenix who on Sunday play top of the table Sydney who're so far unbeaten.
