Aussie first five believes Carter switch could backfire

8:11 am on 29 October 2008

The Wallabies believe the All Blacks' selectors decision to start Dan Carter at second five could backfire on them in Saturday night's Bledisloe Cup match in Hong Kong.

Carter will start in the number 12 jersey, outside Stephen Donald, the pair who combined effectively in the final half of the Bledisloe Cup decider in Brisbane six weeks ago.

The All Blacks coach Graham Henry believes it'll be helpful having two playmakers/navigators on the field early in the game, because of their lack of rugby over the last few weeks.

The Wallabies coach Robbie Deans says he had an inkling they might tamper with the inside back selection, and first five Matt Giteau says they've got a better insight now into the All Blacks game plan.
