New Zealand's Olympic Committee president Mike Stanley says issues with the Commonmwealth Games athletes' village in Delhi are "becoming more minor", an important step that the accommodation was comfortable enough for team members to start moving in.

Delhi's chief minister Sheila Dikshit has said the village would not be complete until the middle of the week, with the Games opening on Sunday, but a number of British athletes and 13 New Zealand officials moved into their accommodation several days ago.

The first contingent of New Zeland athletes arrived in Delhi on Tuesday morning in the form of the lawn bowls team, who settled into the village while hundreds of workers continue cleaning apartments and finishing construction.

Australia's chef de mission Steve Moneghetti says the rooms are large and comfortable and as good as any village he has stayed in over the last 25 years.
