Ferrari's Fernando Alonso won a rain-hit and chaotic Korean Grand Prix to seize back the Formula One world championship lead on a nightmare Sunday for his Red Bull rivals.

The Australian driver and former championship leader Mark Webber crashed out early on while Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel suffered an agonising engine failure nine laps from the end while leading.

McLaren's 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton finished second, with Ferrari's Felipe Massa third and the title race is still wide open with just two races remaining.

Alonso is first on 231 points with Webber second on 220, Hamilton is third overall 21 points behind Alonso with Vettel in fourth a further four points back.
