The International Olympic Committee is in favour of introducing seven new events at the Sochi Winter Games in 2014 in Russia - including women's ski jumping.
Women skiers have been lobbying hard in recent years for skijumping to be introduced at Olympic level.
International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge recently insisted that the exclusion of women's ski jumping from this year's Vancouver Games was not gender discrimination but a decision taken on technical grounds.
In his view, too few women currently compete at a high international standard in an event that is the only one confined to men at the Olympics.
Among other disciplines looking to get on the Sochi slate are ski half pipe for both men and women along with slope style ski and snowboard and a mixed biathlon relay.
The events will have to prove they're up to Olympic inclusion at their respective world champs next year with Rogge having the final say.
