The All Blacks first five Dan Carter has dismissed suggestions his replacement Stephen Donald cost New Zealand the game against the Wallabies in Hong Kong on Saturday night and is blaming the All Blacks ball control for the loss.
Donald failed to find touch with his clearing kick with 30 seconds to go and the Wallabies mounted one final attack before scoring on the stroke of full-time and nailing the sideline conversion to steal the win 26-24.
Carter says it wouldn't have made a difference if Donald had kicked the ball out with Australia still having a line-out in All Black territory, but concedes the All Blacks must hold onto the ball for longer periods if they're to get their end of year tour back on track against England this weekend.
Meanwhile the All Black winger Cory Jane has been ruled out of this weekend's Test against England at Twickenham after suffering bruised ribs in the two-point loss to Australia.
