Seven of the eleven New Zealand golfers playing the Australian Masters matched or bettered par in yesterday's opening round at the Victoria club in Melbourne.
The Wellington left-hander Gareth Paddison is sharing fourth place, two shots off the lead after a 4-under par 67, Michael Hendry had a 68, Josh Geary and Josh Carmichael 69s - alongside Tiger Woods - Michael Campbell and Mahal Pearce had 70s, and Doug Holloway a 71.
The leading trio are lesser known Australians Allistair Presnell, Adam Bland and Daniel Gaunt.
