The Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and chose to bat first in the second cricket Test against England at Adelaide Oval.

Australia dropped swing bowler Ben Hilfenhaus minutes before the toss, summoning Ryan Harris as his replacement.

The hosts also recalled left-arm paceman Doug Bollinger to replace Mitchell Johnson in the only other change to the side which drew the Ashes opener in Brisbane.

England named an unchanged line-up from the first Test, with Chris Tremlett named their 12th man.
