Blackburn owners dismiss Maradona rumours

The Indian owners of Blackburn Rovers have ruled out appointing Argentine Diego Maradona as manager of the English Premier League football club.

Maradona's name has been in the frame since Venky's, the Indian poultry giant which acquired Rovers last month, sacked Sam Allardyce on Tuesday.

Venky's chief executive Anuradha J Desai confirmed Maradona is nowhere near to being considered saying he is not in the club's line of thinking.

Desai says what the Ewood Park club needed was an experienced Premier League manager.

Blackburn are lying 13th in the 20-team Premier League table.
