The co-founder of Williams, one of the most successful Formula One racing teams, is selling the bulk of his shares and plans to stand down as director of engineering in the near future.

However 65-year-old Patrick Head, who set up the championship-winning team with Frank Williams in 1977 and designed a series of world-beating cars, says that he has no immediate plans to retire completely.

Williams is the second most successful Formula One team in terms of constructors' championships with nine between 1980 and 1997.
