England in real danger of missing out on quarter-finals

8:13 am on 15 March 2011

Bangladesh's overnight victory against the Netherlands at the cricket world cup means England must now beat the West Indies in Chennai on Thursday to have any chance of reaching the quarter-finals themselves.

The team's inconsistent performances so far have been blamed on fatigue following the test and one-day series in Australia.

Spinner Graeme Swann believes the current schedule is too demanding for international cricketers, but he still thinks that England can progress to the last eight.

Meanwhile South Africa's leading batsman AB de Villiers is in doubt for tonight's group B game against Ireland in Kolkata after picking up a thigh injury in the Proteas win over India on Saturday.
