Terry says captaincy decision may not be widely accepted

John Terry concedes he may not be a widely popular choice following his reinstatement as England football captain.

Terry was dropped from the role 13 months ago amid allegations of an affair with the ex-girlfriend of then international team-mate Wayne Bridge.

The Chelsea defender insists the players support Fabio Capello's controversial decision, even though some media have suggested it could lead to a divided dressing room with one faction supporting the new skipper and others convinced Rio Ferdinand has been harshly treated.

England play a Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales in Cardiff this weekend.
