Black Caps revel in underdogs tag

10:32 am on 28 March 2011

The New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor says the Black Caps are more than happy with their tag as cricket World Cup underdogs and says Sri Lanka would be foolish to think they're comfortable win over the Black Caps in the group stage will count for anything come tomorrow night's semi-final in Colombo.

The tournament co-hosts crushed New Zealand by 112 runs 10 days ago and destroyed England by 10 wickets in their quarter-final on Sunday morning with both their batsmen and bowlers in ominous form.

The Black Caps are well aware they head into the semi-finals with the odds stacked heavily against them, but Taylor says they wouldn't have it any other way.

The first semi-final between the Black Caps and Sri Lanka gets underway in Colombo at 10pm tomorrow night, with India facing Pakistan in the second semi-final in Mohali on Wednesday.
