The South Canterbury rally driver Hayden Paddon still holds an ambition to compete at the highest level of the sport.
Paddon is favourite for this weekend's Rally of New Zealand in the Waikato which this year is NOT part of the WRC championship.
The Subaru driver will compete in the production class in 6 rounds of the WRC this year and with more manufacturers expected to join the WRC in the next year, Paddon's hopeful there will eventually be a drive for him in the top class.
The rally of New Zealand is Saturday and Sunday.
