Braswell joins Sharks

The New Zealand Breakers import Kevin Braswell has joined Southland for the rest of the National Basketball League season and will suit up on Wednesday for the Sharks in the television game against the Waikato Pistons in Hamilton.

Braswell's fresh from helping the Breakers to a maiden Australian league title and Sharks coach Richard Dickel says the American becoming available was too good an opportunity to pass up as he would strengthen the game strategy the team was attempting to play to.

Point guard Braswell's arrival means the side has to drop an import, and Dickel says it's regrettable that they would have to release Jordan Lawley.

Lawley says the decision coincides with his desire to return to the United States and pursue new basketball opportunities closer to his family and friends in California.
