5:57 am on 22 August 2011

The New Zealand V8 Supercar driver Shane van Gisbergen recovered from a poor start to the weekend to finish third in the final race of the Ipswich 300 and with team-mate Tim Slade finishing second it was first time since 2005 Stone Brothers Racing have finished the weekend with two of its drivers on the podium.

Slade again proved he has what it takes to be a future V8 Supercar Champion, by claiming his second runner-up podium finish this weekend after finishing second in the penultimate race..

Although Craig Lowndes clean-swept the three races this weekend, Slade was the only other driver to be a real threat to Lowndes' dominance.

Slade's second placing today was made all the more sweet for SBR, with team-mate van Gisbergen also joining him on the podium after a strong run in the final race for third place.

Van Gisbergen wasn't settled earlier in the weekend but changes to his Falcon before Sunday's final race ensured he remained in contention.

The New Zealander's podium finish helps van Gisbergen maintain his third placing on the Championship points table.
