Seven wickets for Southee and century for Brownlie

7:14 pm on 14 November 2011

The New Zealand pace bowler Tim Southee has taken seven wickets and new Black Cap Dean Brownlie has made an unbeaten century players seek to make the most of this week's round of Plunket Shield matches before their tour of Australia.

A knee injury kept Southee out of the tour of Zimbabwe, where Brownlie played his first test.

Southee took seven for 37 from 11.4 overs but doesn't think the pitch at Lincoln did much.

Kane Williamson underlined that later with an unbeaten 76 for Northern Districts, who will resume on 156 for one in reply to Wellington's 162.

Brownlie's 112 helped Canterbury to 324 for five playing Auckland at Rangiora while Central Districts will resume on 49 for one in reply to Otago's 207 in the other match at Lincoln.

New Zealand plays Australia A from next Thursday in Brisbane where the first test starts a week later.
