New Zealand Cricket has withdrawn the venue Warrant of Fitness for Molyneux Park in Alexandra until a permanent cricket turf manager is appointed.
As a consequence, the December 29 HRV Cup fixture between Otago and Northern Districts has been moved to University Oval in Dunedin.
After an inspection last week NZC's grounds and facilities manager, Ian McKendry says Molyneux Park's contractor has been trying to fill the vacant position of turf manager for some time without success.
McKendry says with the match now under than six weeks away there is no certainty the necessary preparation can be completed to the required standard.
But he says Molyneux Park has a long history of hosting cricket over the holidays and there is no reason why this shouldn't continue once a qualified and permanent cricket turf manager is appointed.
