The former England captain Nasser Hussain has urged officials to give Meryvn Westfield a role in the battle against corruption in cricket after the bowler admitted a criminal spot-fixing charge in court.

The 23-year-old Westfield has pleaded guilty in London's Old Bailey to a spot-fixing charge while playing for Essex in a county 40-over match against Durham in September 2009.

Hussain says that whatever happened to Westfield,to be sentenced next month, the England and Wales Cricket Board should use him to educate up and coming players about the dangers of getting involved in fixing.
