Redknapp in court on tax evasion charges

6:08 am on 24 January 2012

Tottenham Hotspur's manager Harry Redknapp and his former chairman at Portsmouth, Milan Mandaric have appeared in a London court accused of tax evasion.

Redknapp, the favourite to become the next England manager, denied two counts of cheating the public revenue in relation to alleged payments from Mandaric into his Monaco bank account totalling 360-thousand dollars.

It's alleged that Mandaric, now Sheffield Wednesday's chairman, paid money into Redknapp's account to avoid paying income tax and national insurance.

He also denies the charges.
