The new Warriors signing hooker Nathan Friend will play his first match for the club in a pre-season National Rugby League trial against the Gold Coast Titans at North Harbour Stadium on Saturday.

Coach Brian McClennan has named a 25-strong squad including 11 of the 17 players used in the grand final against Manly, along with Friend who'll be playing against his former club.

Also included are six members of the Junior Warriors' premiership-winning side, captain Ben Henry, Konrad Hurrell, Carlos Tuimavave, Sam Lousi, Sio Siua Taukeiaho and Sebastine Ikahihifo.

Not playing are fullback Kevin Locke, winger Manu Vatuvei, loose forward Micheal Luck, centre Jerome Ropati and prop Russell Packer.

Vatuvei is on the Gold Coast with the NRL All Stars while McClennan expects Locke and Packer to be ready for next week's trial against South Sydney.

Luck is recovering from shoulder surgery and won't be back for several weeks yet while Ropati is also a couple weeks off being ready to play.

The Warriors opening NRL match is against Manly in Auckland on March 4th.
