Symonds retires from all cricket

The former Australian cricket all rounder Andrew Symonds has pulled out of this year's Indian Premier League and retired from all forms of the game.

36 year old Symonds says the impending birth of his first child was a key factor in his decision, and with several new and exciting opportunities coming his way it's time to focus on the next stage of his life.

Symonds hasn't played for Australia since being sent home from the Twenty20 World Cup in England in 2009.
