Northern, Canterbury in charge

The Northern Districts cricketers are in charge of their Plunket Shield four-day match against Central at home in Gisborne.

Northern bowled Central out for 183 and are 114 for two in their second innings at stumps on the second day - a lead of 240 runs.

Canterbury are 100 for three in their second innings at Rangiora after Wellington were all out for 201, the hosts leading by 233.

Rain forced play to be abandoned after tea at Dunedin's University Oval with visitors Auckland 80 for five in reply to Otago's 226 all out.

An earlier start of 10am's been scheduled to day three with extra overs to make up for lost time.
