A calf injury has ruled the Central Districts all-rounder Jacob Oram out of the Black Caps' final Twenty20 and the upcoming one-day series against South Africa.

Oram has been battling the injury since his last ODI against Zimbabwe with scans confirming a strain to left calf muscle.

Jesse Ryder returned to international cricket for the deciding match of the New Zealand-South Africa Twenty20 series at Eden Park.

Ryder hadn't played for the Black Caps since injuring a calf muscle after New Zealand's test win over Australia in Hobart.

He replaced Colin de Grandhomme in the middle of the batting order.
