Gold Coast owner challenges FFA

The outspoken A-League owner Clive Palmer is using Australia's failure to qualify for this year's Olympic football tournament to fuel his feud with Football Federation Australia.

The Olyroos failed to qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 28 years when they lost 1-nil yesterday to the United Arab Emirates, and Palmer has challenged Football Federation Australia to put up their National under-23 side against his bottom-placed Gold Coast United side in a $50-thousand dollars winner-take-all match.

It's an obvious attempt by billionaire Palmer to highlight selection flaws in the Australian team's doomed Olmpic qualifying campaign.
