The Rugby Players Association has expressed it's disappointment with the way the New Zealand rugby union's handled aspects of the proposed liquidation of the Otago union.
The Otago Union has debts of 2.35 million dollars and will be placed in liquidation on Friday afternoon unless that situation changes.
The Rugby Players Association chief executive Rob Nichol says it paid the $40 thousand in salary owed to 23 Otago players for February.
He says they were only told late Friday that the provincial players wouldn't be paid their February payment, which was due on Monday.
Nichol says he understands the NZRU couldn't continue underwriting the Otago payments but feels there was some obligation on the national body's part to look after the players.
