Palmer sets up new Football body

The Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has announced he is starting an independent football body called Football Australia, aimed at holding Football Federation Australia accountable for running the game.

On Wednesday the FFA terminated Palmer's A-League licence for Gold Coast United.

Palmer says the idea behind Football Australia is to monitor and ensure good governance as well as grow the game.

The FFA is yet to confirm that the A-League match between the Wellington Phoenix and Gold Coast will definetly go ahead in the capital on Sunday, however Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says his side's preparing as if it is on.
