The Tokoroa based Raukawa Charitable Trust says it's grateful for funding from the Waikato River Authority to help restore the health and well being of the river.

The authority has allocated $5.5 million to various organisations for 22 major projects and 24 in the under $50,000 category.

The trust's environment manager Stephanie O'Sullivan says the money the iwi has received is being well spent.

She says practical projects range from wetland restoration to improving farm practices on the iwi's dairy farm.

Ms O'Sullivan says funding is also being used to put together the iwi's environmental policies which are a requirement under the Resource Management Act.
