NZ First puts more pressure on Turia over Whanau Ora

New Zealand First has again put the Government on the spot over Whanau Ora spending, during Parliament's Question Time.

Part of the scheme is under review, after four people with Mongrel Mob connections were charged with misusing Whanau Ora funding.

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters asked if the public could have confidence in the review being carried out by Te Puni Kokiri - because it's the same agency issuing the grants.

But Minister for Whanau Ora Tariana Turia ignored the question - saying every allegation New Zealand First has made about the scheme has not been proven.

New Zealand First called for the Auditor General to carry out an independent review of the initiative, but under Question Time rules, Tariana Turia didn't have to respond.

On Monday, Te Puni Kokiri announced that the Whanau Integration, Innovation and Engagement Fund was under review.
