Ngati Rangi descendants urged to give mandate feedback

7:40 pm on 14 November 2012

A Ruapehu iwi is a step closer to resolving its Treaty of Waitangi grievances and is seeking a mandate from the people to represent them in negotiations with the Crown.

The Ngati Rangi Trust is urging descendants to have their say in the Draft Mandate Strategy which sets out a proposed representative structure and outlines their process to get a mandate from Ngati Rangi.

The iwi says it's important that its people give them feedback within the next two weeks so a mandated body can present an initialled deed of settlement to the claimant community for their ratification.

The feedback forms need to sent to the Office of Treaty Settlements before 21 November.
