The Federation of Family Budgeting Services is preparing for more Maori to ask for help.

Service chief executive Raewyn Fox says they're collaborating with Maori social services to offer financial advice.

She says they've been talking to the National Urban Maori Authority for nearly a year about delivering budgeting advice.

Ms Fox says many of the iwi-based social service providers have become members of the federation such as Ngati Porou.

She says also she's had recent discussions with Ngai Tahu about them developing a network of budgeting services throughout the South Island.

Maori now make up 43% of the client base at the Federation of Family Budgeting Services.
