Anti-asset sales group vows to continue fight

7:33 pm on 1 March 2013

An organisation opposed to the partial sale of State-owned enterprises is continuing its fight, despite the Supreme Court dismissing a legal challenge over water rights by Maori groups this week.

The group Say No to Asset Sales - led by a Wellington kaumatua (elder) - on Friday erected banners on Maori land in front of Parliament.

Peter Love from the iwi Te Atiawa says protests against asset sales will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The 79-year-old says the banners are there to stay and he won't be giving up his fight anytime soon.

Mr Love says the only way the banners will be removed is if he is arrested.

The group recently held a demonstration on the Wellington waterfront which drew at least 500 people.
