Hamilton residents are being given the chance to learn the history and significance of Matariki at the Waikato Museum.
An hour-long Matariki/Pleiades lecture at 5pm on Friday awill include a presentation by the Hamilton Astronomical Society.
It will also examine what the star cluster of Matariki means to astronomers of today.
The free event is a collaboration between the museum, the Astronomical Society and the Turangawaewae Trust Board.
