Ministry puts money into Maori health

8:15 pm on 9 July 2013

The Ministry of Health is pumping money in to developing Maori health training for District Health Boards.

It has confirmed that two training modules are being devised to increase knowledge and understanding of Maori health.

A Ministry spokesperson says it will help to make improvements in how Maori health is delivered.

The pilot programme, which is expected to be completed in September, will be delivered either through facilitated workshops, or online by individuals as self-learning.

It coincides with a trial of governance training for Iwi Relationship Boards, which work with DHBs to represent Maori needs.
