Maanu Paul's health on the improve

7:43 pm on 26 August 2013

New Zealand Maori Council co-chair Maanu Paul hopes to be back in circulation soon after months of illness.

Mr Paul says his battle with cancer is not over but he's making good progress after surgery.

He says he had an early set-back with chemotherapy but now resting up and preparing to go on with treatment.

Mr Paul hopes to attend meetings of the Crown Forestry Rental Trust again in a couple of months.

He says he regrets the recent delays in funding for claimants, caused by the stand-off between the trust and its two Maori Council appointees - himself and Sir Eddie Durie - he says the legal action they've taken was necessary.
